3/1/07 -- Paul Swiech ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Great Basin College will
receive about $260,000,
thanks to a donation from the estate of a longtime Elko resident.
Thelma Trescartes died in December at the age of 101.
A lawyer and trustee of her estate said Trescartes established a trust some
years ago to
dispose of her assets upon her death.
Other beneficiaries include the Unity School of Christianity, Northeastern
Nevada Museum
and Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
Lawyers said the trust will be divided later this month, and final amounts to
beneficiaries
are still being determined.
Trescartes taught at Elko schools for 30 years before retiring in 1964.
Great Basin President Paul Killpatrick said the donation was a big surprise.
"It was very nice to top it off for our 40th anniversary," he added.
